Metalink and Infineon set new record: 100 Mbps in VDSLPlus

The Israeli company Metalink, which was already mentioned a year and a half ago in our news in connection with the development of xDSL technology, which allows reaching 10 Mbps throughput at distances of up to 4 km, announced that it had reached a new bandwidth record. The latest development of Metalink is the VDSLPlus chipset, created in conjunction with Infineon and designed to replace existing VDSL solutions in the future.

The Metalink and Infineon chipset is said to provide transmission and reception speeds of up to 100 Mbps at distances of at least 200 m. The company’s press release states that VDSLPlus technology has been submitted for consideration to Korean and Japanese manufacturers and may appear in real products in the next year or two.

The chipset is designed to ensure that there is no overlap of frequency bands with existing services – ISDN, ADSL and ADSL2+.
