MRV today announced a new line of OptiSwitch 9000 (OS9000) routing switches, the industry’s first carrier-grade metro Ethernet system that combines Gigabit Ethernet aggregation, Ethernet / IP / MPLS services and WDM transport on a single platform.
OS9000 provides enhanced optical Ethernet access services with triple-play services.e. voice, video and data transmission. These routers provide the ability to aggregate traffic from FTTX or DSLAM devices to provide targeted quality of service (QoS) for various applications, information security, bandwidth management, and advanced management capabilities for remote monitoring and configuration.
The OS9000 platform supports Metro Ethernet Forum E-Line (point-to-point Ethernet Virtual Circuit) and E-LAN (multipoint-to-multipoint Ethernet Virtual Circuit) specifications, which are powered by powerful ASICs that provide tunneling and provisioning. the required bandwidth for each application or network subscriber.
The use of E-LAN and E-Line functions in conjunction with WDM modules allows the OS9000 system to work with several independent services at separate wavelengths, which makes it possible to provide extended service level agreements (SLAs) in long metropolitan networks.

In addition, OS9000 diagnostics include physical monitoring of optical and copper Ethernet connections. The system of digital diagnostics of SFP modules provides complete information about the quality and parameters of optical connections, allowing you to quickly identify the causes of possible malfunctions even before they occur. Copper remote diagnostics, supported on OS9000 copper ports, tests the cables connected to them and identifies defects in the termination of RJ-45 connectors or breaks in the UTP cable. Having determined the nature of the problem, the operator can then remotely disconnect the problem port and tell the subscriber which patch cord, connector or cable line needs to be checked and replaced.
