Preliminary benchmark results for NVIDIA G70

So, the first results of the expected novelty from NVIDIA
– GeForce 7800 GTX has already been received and we will also talk about them
a couple of words.

NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX graphics card
based on NVIDIA G70 chip. AND
although there is no final official information on the specification of this chip yet –
preliminary data suggests that its performance is pretty
high. And here are the first results of performance measurements carried out in
popular test of the graphics subsystem – 3DMark05,
according to Hardspell, the new brainchild of NVIDIA
confidently scores 7703 points and 12070 performance points in SLI
mode.

Until today, most graphics cards on modern
chips were able to gain in this test from Futuremark
about 5000 points, while older models barely scored 1000.

The appearance of the first samples of video cards built on a chip
G70 is expected this summer. Spec speculation
video cards are very curious and sometimes contradictory. ATI
meanwhile, it only remains to force the release of our ATI R520.

So, data on NVIDIA G70:

  • 0.11 micron TSMC process technology
  • Processor speed 430
    MHz
  • Operation speed 256 MB
    memory standard GDDR3 – 1.4
    GHz (256-bit interface)
  • Bandwidth
    38.4 Gbps.
  • Scene fill rate 860
    million. pixel / sec.
  • 400 MHz RAMDAC
  • NVIDIA technologies: CineFX 4.0
    Intellisample 4.0, 64-bit texture filtering,
    NVIDIA SLI (7800 GTX)
    DX 9.0 / SM 3.0 & OpenGL 2.0
  • Chip options: GTX, GT and standard
  • Recommended power supply unit in the system – 400
    W (12V
    line 26A), for SLI
    mode – 500 W
    (12V line
    34A)

For comparison, the parameters of the ATI R520:

  • 24 pixel pipelines
  • 32 texture units
  • 96 ALU blocks
  • 192 shader operations in one cycle
  • 700 MHz chip core (that’s ~ 134.4 billion. operations
with shaders per second), ~ 300-350 million. transistors
  • Memory interface 256-bit
  • Memory size 512 MB
  • GDDR3 memory speed 1.8 GHz
  • 57.6 Gbps memory bandwidth.
  • 90 nanometer process technology
  • Technology: Shader Model 3.0,
ATI HyperMemory, ATI Multi Rendering Technology (AMR,
    16x FSAA,
  • Estimated performance – about three times higher than the Radeon X800 XT

The chip will be released in the second quarter of 2021.

Note that the data presented are not yet final exact specifications
future products, t.to. neither NVIDIA nor ATI reported
accurate data about your chips.
