Infortrend Showcases New RAID Systems at Computex

Infortrend, an American company specializing in the development of a wide range of SAN products based on its own chips, controllers and software, is presenting at Computex several new storage solutions in the EonStor series, based on different disk interfaces and network connection methods.

  • EonStor A24F-R2224: 4U, 24 SATA-II drive bays, external iSCSI – a powerful solution based on cheap front-swappable drives, redundant internal architecture with no single point of failure.
  • EonStor A08U-C2411 and A08U-C2412: desktop or tower solution (proprietary Cube form factor) for SATA-II drives, backward compatible with SATA-I, the second model features a 250W hot replacement of drives and two SCSI-320 channels outside, as well as the presence of a BBU (backup battery for the controller, which, in the event of an external power failure, makes it possible to postpone disk transactions until it appears without losing data for about a day). Positioned as solutions for streaming information processing in content servers, video editing applications and for processing databases.
  • EonStor F16F-R2021: Fiber Channel solution to both disk and outward, sustained 730 MB / s read, 487 MB / s write, roughly double the legacy solution. The applications are the same, only for the most critical areas. 16 drive bays, proprietary ASIC266 processor, IBM PowerPC 750FX-600 processor.
  • EonStor A16F-R2221: differs from the previous solution based on SATA-II disks, the controller supports NCQ, steady-state read speed 697 MB / s, write speed 386 MB / s, the same applications, scales – SAN, 24/7 availability 7. There is no single point of failure in both systems, 2 Gb Fiber Channel outward.
  • EonStor A12E-G2121: for backup, data storage and replication between servers.

More complete specifications are available for the latest model:

  • Outdoor iSCSI 1Gb Ethernet, 2 lanes, SATA-II drives, 12 bays, 2U format
  • XOR ASIC266 processor, caching up to 256 requests
  • Dedicated bandwidth to each drive
  • Possibility of using PATA disks through an optional adapter
  • 512 MB preinstalled memory on the controller
  • 2 350W hot-swappable power supplies
  • 3 hot-swappable, 2-speed fans, controlled
  • RS-232C port (audio jack) for local firmware access
  • Telnet management, SSH, RAIDWatch software for Windows and Linux
  • Many control indicators and ways of reporting system events

All systems support IOSmart, DrvSmart and SysSmart technologies for managing arrays and individual disks, RAID levels 0, 1, 0 + 1, 3, 5, 10, 30, 50, JBOD and NRAID, up to 1 GB cache memory, proprietary XOR processor ASIC266, IBM PowerPC 750FX-600 processor, Ethernet port and RS-232C for management and RAIDWatch software for Windows and Linux and optional Solaris.
