DCSL Rev B – Firmware Version Released
New NEC CMOSFETs – for fast and efficient chips
NEC Corporation announced another advancement in the field of microelectronics with the release of CMOSFET (CMOS Field Effect Transistor), which creates a new gate structure based on a high-k (high dielectric constant) hafnium-containing insulator. The new gate structure of the field-effect transistor, according to the company, allows for higher switching speeds with low leakage current.
It is also reported that the new shutter structure, made in a standard CMOS process, is stable and allows operation for a period of at least 10 years at an operating temperature of up to 85 degrees Celsius.
The stability of the structure is achieved by the method of forming silicon nitride with phase control (phase controlled Ni-FUSI) and allows you to create transistors according to 45-nm standards. It is especially emphasized that the new transistor technology will have to allow the production of fast, and at the same time, economical processors.
