Fiber Optic Multiplexer from Allied Telesyn

Allied Telesyn is one of the leading manufacturers of enterprise networking solutions. Historically, the company has specialized in Ethernet networking and coupling systems. Now its business has expanded to offer a wide range of access, aggregation, backbone and backbone transport technologies, providing cost-effective Ethernet / IP based solutions. By implementing their IP all the Way strategy in September 2021., Allied Telesyn today offers an end-to-end IP / Ethernet solution capable of delivering Triple Play (voice, video and data) services, and CWDM technology allows them to be combined on a single fiber pair.

The company today announced the launch of the LightExplorer AT-LX3800U optical transport platform. This modular Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) solution delivers multiple different services with bit rates up to 2.7 Gbps each, with a total maximum throughput of over 20 Gbps, one fiber optic pair up to 80 km. The platform provides integrated SNMP management, comprehensive alarm and event logging, and hot-swappable line cards and power supplies for high system availability.

Housed in a compact 1U chassis, the 8-slot device is a scalable solution positioned for service providers, large enterprises, DoD facilities and government agencies whose applications require traffic expansion with limited fiber infrastructure. Modular design based on hot-swappable line cards allows easy expansion and migration as needed, so capital expenditures are strictly proportional to the capabilities purchased.

Each line card is capable of supporting data rates from 100 Mbps to 2.7 Gbps, as well as use SFP transceivers supporting one or more transmission rates.

In a LAN environment, Allied Telesyn CWDM solutions extend the life of existing switches, routers and other network equipment by splitting the network into smaller workgroups and supporting new services. The traffic of each workgroup is transmitted over the existing fiber-optic infrastructure to the central core network and servers. In addition, LightExplorer reduces reliance on leased fiber and gives network administrators more control over bandwidth growth.

The platform is already available for order, the cost of the Light Explorer AT-LX3800U chassis is $ 5,395., and AT-LX3811 expansion cards – $ 3,295.
