Storus became the official distributor of Kubota Comps Corporation
Storus, a distributor of solutions, hardware and software for networked storage in the CIS, has become an official distributor of Kubota Comps Corporation, a major developer of electronic equipment and software for high-capacity data warehouses. As a result of the agreement, Storus obtained the right to distribute optical DVD and PDD libraries produced by Kubota Comps for data archiving, as well as specialized software for hierarchical storage management.
Kubota Comps offers a wide variety of nearline data storage – optical libraries that represent specialized devices for long-term storage and random access to data. Archival drives are a necessary element of all information systems that use large volumes of static and rarely updated data.
Archive vaults manufactured by Kubota Comps use the most reliable optical recording method available today, are based on DVD media and new technologies using “blue laser” – including the professional PDD (Professional Data Disc) technology developed by Sony. Large-capacity robotic drives, up to 20 TB or more, are capable of using both discs that physically exclude the correction of archived data (WORM, DVD-R) and rewritable media (RW, DVD-RAM). At the same time, data safety is ensured for 50 years or more.
The Kubota Comps product line includes a full range of DVD libraries at various levels – tabletop, DJ series, up to 376GB, BS series rackmount libraries ?200, up to 1.88 TB, and modular, SA-2100 series, up to 20 TB.
The main difference between the optical libraries of the Kubota VDC series is the use of drives and disks of the PDD (Professional Data Disc) format. PDD is Sony’s ultra-high density blue laser recording technology. Currently, PDD technology can record 23 GB discs, more than double the capacity of the previous generation of optical discs such as MO and DVD. Kubota Comps Offers VDC Series Rack PDD Libraries ?60, capacities up to 1.56 TB, and unique modular PDD libraries of the VDC series ?2100, up to 49.5 TB.
In addition to libraries, Storus offers its partners NS-100 and Mnemos software systems related to the class of Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) systems. The purpose of these systems is to automatically move pieces of information to be archived from expensive and fast media, such as hard drives, to cheaper and slower media, such as DVD or PDD.
