ZyXEL introduces a line of devices for telecom operators
ZyXEL today announced with an official press release that it has expanded its range of solutions for ADSL network operators. Now carriers who already use ZyXEL DSL switches can provide ADSL2 + services with minimal investment in the purchase of new equipment by simply installing new line modules, and the IES-1248 and SMG-700 devices will become the choice when building distributed access networks that can significantly increase the speed. connections and subscriber density, overall network reliability and quality of services provided, and offer subscribers promising communication services, making the most of the existing cable infrastructure.
Linear modules AAM-1212 and ALC-1224 are used to connect 12 and 24 subscribers using ADSL2 + technology, respectively, and are intended for use as part of DSL switches IES-1000 and IES-2000/2500/3000. The use of these devices allows not only to protect investments in the operator’s network infrastructure, but also makes it possible to provide targeted ADSL2 + services exactly where it is needed: to the most demanding subscribers (maximizing ARPU) and on long, “problem” lines (connecting new subscribers and improving quality connections for old).
IP DSLAM IES-1248 allows you to connect up to 48 subscribers using ADSL2 + technology at a speed of 24 Mbps. This is a non-blocking fixed-configuration switch with 48 ports ADSL2 +, made in a 19 ”rack with a height of one and a half units. Splitters are built into the switch, for connection to PBX and telephone lines on the front panel of the IES-1248 there are four Telco 50 connectors. The SMG-700 controller is used for distributed termination of subscriber VLAN and PPPoE sessions and is a gateway between the access and traffic aggregation levels and the core of the operator’s IP network. An external RADIUS server is used to authenticate subscribers. Along with the termination of subscriber traffic, SMG-700 provides the operator with interfaces for interfacing with the billing system and routing IP traffic, dividing segments of the city IP network. The controller is made in a metal casing one-unit high and is designed for installation in a 19 ”rack. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports are used to interface the access network and aggregate traffic with the core of the operator’s network, another GbE port is used to organize a secure (out-of-band) management and monitoring interface. High bandwidth and reliability make it possible to recommend the SMG-700 controller for the mass provision of Tripple Play and network video services, especially considering that authorization denial is one of the most common reasons for denial of service in large centralized networks.
Today ZyXEL offers on the Russian market a wide range of operator and subscriber devices that implement ADSL2 + technology (for comparison, the line of subscriber ADSL2 + modems already has 6 models that differ in network interfaces, support for wireless networks, IP telephony capabilities and levels of implemented local network protection). The use of ADSL2 + in operator networks allows not only to offer subscribers new connection speeds – up to 24 Mbit / s, which are not always in demand on the market, but also to improve the quality of services provided and the density of subscribers’ connection. The ADSL2 + standard has absorbed more than five years of experience in operating real ADSL networks and offers a whole range of measures to improve the efficiency of operator’s ADSL networks:
- Increased communication range. The gain in communication range of about 200 meters increases the area covered by the communication center by 6 square kilometers. The area in which relatively high quality services can be provided (at 768 Kbps) is increased by 37 percent;
- Reduced data transfer overhead, high speed at the same range;
- Specific measures to reduce crosstalk between pairs in telephone cable and telephone exchange, increase the number of lines used and the reliability of communication. Fine-tuning the speed in each of the ADSL channels and the choice of subcarriers to reduce crosstalk (Seamless Rate Adaptation, SRA);
- Improved diagnostic and monitoring capabilities at both ends of the line implemented in subscriber and operator ADSL equipment. A special diagnostic mode in which data on the signal-to-noise ratio and the main parameters of the line can be obtained even if it is not possible to make a DSL connection with the modem;
- Additional Power Saving Modes – Maximum Power Consumption – at Maximum Data Rate. Three power saving modes, L0, L2, L3. L2 – basic, average consumption, L0 – transfer of large amounts of data, L3 – sleep mode. The transition between modes takes about 3 seconds and occurs without loss of data and communication quality;
- Improved compatibility of equipment from different manufacturers;
- All-digital mode, which uses the frequency range commonly used for analog telephony, and allows you to increase the speed of the return channel by 256 Kbit / s, as well as increase the communication range;
- “Symmetric” data transmission mode (ADSL 2+ Annex M), in which the transmission rate in the reverse channel is doubled and can reach 3-3.5 Mbps.
- Automatic line mode selection (selfde) allows you to set the optimal communication mode for each line without operator intervention.
