Online music and satellite broadcasting can’t replace old habits

Digital players, satellite radio, and online subscription services are growing in popularity, but most American consumers still rely on CDs and FM radio as their primary sources of music ? this conclusion was made by the analytical company International Data Corp. (IDC) in a recent study.

More than half, to be exact ? 53% of consumers reported having a portable CD player, according to IDC. At the same time, only 6% turned out to be owners of satellite receivers. The same number of respondents have portable music players such as the Apple iPod at their disposal. Even less ? only four out of every hundred reported using online pay services to download sound recordings.

According to analysts, the survey results show that established technologies such as CDs and FM radio still hold the upper hand in everyday life. Along with this, there is a growing number of those who have already purchased or are about to purchase an MP3 player and satellite radio.

It is worth noting that, according to the survey, almost 70% of American families spend money on music recordings every month, and every fourth family spends an average of $ 10 to $ 25 per month for this purpose. I wonder how much the survey results would change if IDC conducted it in Russia?
