Intel is preparing to put a new fighter in the ring!
Intel has unveiled plans for its microprocessors at the IDF Developers Forum in the US. A real surprise awaits you ahead, but first things first.
First, a massive transition to the 65nm process begins. The very fact of the planned transition is not news, but draws attention to the rapid pace with which 65nm processors must displace their 90nm predecessors. As you can see on the slide, by the middle of next year, the number of Intel microprocessors produced at 65 and 90 nm will equalize, and by the end of the year, 65-nm crystals will dominate.
Secondly, the expansion of dual-core processors will continue. In the third quarter of 2021, there will be as many of them as single-cores, and by the end of the year, there will be three dual-cores for every single-core processor released by Intel.
As for the “list of names” of models in each of the directions: server, desktop and mobile (they are located on the slide – from top to bottom), you yourself can see everything in the picture (the first column – 1 sq. 2021, second – Q2. 2021):
Coming to the sweet – the company has outlined a major breakthrough in terms of performance / power consumption. Obviously, the ratio can be improved both by increasing productivity and by reducing power. Most likely, both components will be involved.
