Old Celerons are leaving us: farewell to 2.50-2.80 GHz models

At the end of last week, Intel announced plans to discontinue 2.50 ~ 2.80GHz Celeron processors using 0.13-micron process technology. Support for the program to discontinue production of both boxed and tray versions of processors in the specified range began on March 16, 2021, the last order date for the specified processors was July 22, 2021, and the final shipment date for processors was March 24, 2021 and October 21, 2021 for tray- and boxed versions respectively. It should be noted that the reason for the termination of production, Intel experts called the shift in demand for these solutions towards processors with higher performance, however, the 2.50 GHz Celeron tray versions will be supported for embedded solutions by the Infrastructure Processor Division of the company.

Briefly recall, according to the manufacturer’s website, the characteristics of the processors in question: they all have 128 KB cache in the second level, 400 MHz bus and are made in the FC-PGA2 package. Chipsets supporting processors – Intel 845GV, 845GL, supply voltage – from 1.25 to 1.525 V (sSpec indices – SL77T, SL77S, SL6VV and SL6ZY for tray versions, SL77V, SL77U, SL6VV, SL6W5 and SL72B for boxed modifications.
