Analog Devices Announces Next Generation Low Power D / A Converters.

The AD970x family is optimized for communications, industrial and portable applications where a combination of high performance and low power consumption is known. The developer claims that power consumption has been reduced by 70% compared to previous products in this class. Providing “broadcast quality” conversion, the AD970x family is well suited for applications ranging from portable radios to measurement instruments.

AD970x models include built-in voltage references and Rset and Rload resistors, which reduces the number of components and the cost of the finished structure. In addition, the features of the circuitry solution implemented in the devices eliminate the need for auxiliary circuits when used in conjunction with other analog components. As a result, the high level of integration simplifies analog circuit design and reduces the size of printed circuit boards, which is important for portable products.

The AD970x family of converters provide speeds up to 175MSPS (Millions of Samples Per Second), which the developer claims is four times faster than its closest competitor with comparable power consumption. The family includes four products: 7AD9707 (14-bit DAC), AD9706 (12-bit DAC), AD9705 (10-bit DAC) and AD9704 (8-bit DAC). Clean Signal Dynamic Range (SFDR) 86 decibels below carrier.
