Intel Unveils Dual-Core Pentium On Monday April 18th

According to a source citing Intel representatives, the company will officially unveil dual-core Pentium processors tomorrow, April 18. Deliveries of new processors will begin tomorrow – thus Intel is going to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Moore’s Law.

The first engineering samples of Intel’s dual-core Pentium Extreme Edition 840 processors are said to have begun shipping to OEM partners as early as last Monday. Pentium EE 840 runs at 3.2 GHz. As expected, the cost of systems based on dual-core Pentium EE will be able to keep within $ 1,500.

Tomorrow there will be an announcement of three dual-core processors, called, as previously reported, Pentium D: 820, 830 and 840. The clock frequencies of the new products will be 2.8, 3.0 and 3.2 GHz. FSB clock speed (front-side bus) – 800 MHz, cache memory (L2) of the second level – 1 MB, 64-bit memory addressing (EM64T) is supported.
