Intel Introduces Pentium M 780 And Three More New Processors
With Japan’s morning coming earlier than North America, Intel Japan has already announced a new laptop processor model ? Pentium M 780, as well as three more new processors, and there is no information on the company’s home site yet.
The Pentium M 780 is clocked at 2.26 GHz with a 533 MHz system bus (FSB). Core voltage is 1.404V, thermal power dissipation (TDP) is 27W.
In addition to the 780, the Pentium M 778 is also coming to the market, clocked at 1.60 GHz (400 MHz FSB) with a core supply voltage of 1.116 V and dissipating only 10 watts. As you might guess, the first of the new processors is positioned for use in notebooks of the desktop replacement class, the second – in ultraportable and economical models.
Pentium M 780 and 778 are equipped with 2 MB L2 cache, support Enhanced SpeedStep technology.
The segment of inexpensive laptops has not been forgotten either – for them Intel has prepared Celeron M 380 and 383, operating at 1.60 GHz (400 MHz FSB) and 1.00 GHz (400 MHz FSB), with core supply voltages of 1.292 and 0.940 V, dissipating 21 and 5 W, respectively. Celeron, as before, is equipped with half the size of the L2 cache on a chip – 1 MB.
All four new items are manufactured in compliance with 90nm technological process, support SSE2 and Execute Disable Bit instructions. By the way, although the press release is dated today, Japanese sources say the Pentium M 780 is already on sale in Japan for 76,480 yen ($ 682 at current exchange rates).
