Philips Research Scientists Announce The Development Of A New Imaging Technology Called MPI (Magnetic Particle Imaging) That Can Be Used For Material Analysis And Medical Research. The results of the researchers’ work will be published in the June issue of the journal Nature.

The main idea behind MPI was the acquisition of spatial images by measuring the magnetic field strength of particle probes. In this case, since particles with a nonlinear magnetization curve and an inhomogeneous magnetic field are used, even with a low concentration of commercially available probe particles, it is possible to obtain a high-resolution image.

Researchers claim that the new method for studying objects has high sensitivity and high spatial resolution. According to Philips, MPI can be used to visualize internal organs or blood vessels, as well as to examine materials for defects.
