General Atomics: Second UWB Certification After Freescale

General Atomics Announces FCC Certification for UWB Spectral Keying.

The technology allows to combine impulse communication technologies with an approach to the use of several independent frequency ranges. The main advantage of the technology, according to General Atomics, is the ability to communicate with several terminals in the same range and in conditions of multiple signal reflections without mutual interference. Presumably, General Atomics’ approach is similar to Intel’s approach to promoting MBOA-UWB.

General Atomics partner TDK RF Solutions says it was able to provide streaming video over a distance of 15m between the receiver and transmitter, separated by a wall.

By the way, General Atomics became the second developer of UWB technologies, after Freescale, to receive FCC certification. Freescale, which develops DS-UWB technologies, received its certification for commercial use of its XS110 chipset in March 2021.
