Hitachi Introduces Intel Itanium 2 Servers with 667MHz FSB

Almost simultaneously with Intel’s announcement of new Itanium 2 processor variants, Japanese server manufacturer Hitachi announced its first product based on them. It’s about the BladeSymphony server module. Hitachi promises that the novelty supporting the new processor will hit the Japanese market on July 21, 2021.

The use of a processor with a FSB frequency of 667 MHz has increased the performance of BladeSymphony. According to the developer, the updated blade-server shows record performance on the SPEC CFP 2000 Benchmark, which focuses on floating point calculations.

As you know, an increase in the frequency of the bus connecting the processor and memory allowed to expand the bandwidth by 35% compared to the previous models operating at 400 MHz FSB.
